Abstract

The aim of this publication is to demonstrate, through real industrial examples, how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of industrial automation. Starting from the fundamental conceptual framework, the study systematically analyses the technological developments of Industry 4.0 and 5.0, the key paradigms, the minimum prerequisites for AI‑based solutions, and the advantages they offer over traditional machine‑vision and statistics‑driven approaches. Using examples based on Siemens’ artificial intelligence solutions, we present how AI supports production optimization and cost reduction in the fields of quality inspection, production control, and predictive maintenance. The case studies illustrate that the application of artificial intelligence in manufacturing provides tangible competitive advantages for companies that are prepared to exploit its potential.
