Abstract

When finishing free-form surfaces with ball-end milling cutters, the cutting circumstances are constantly changing as the surface changes. This affects the load on the tool, the roughness and the accuracy of the finished surface. The paper describes the variations due to changing milling conditions, as well as the method of continuous speed control and the results that can be achieved.
