Examination of surface roughness producing ability in case of turning
Keywords:

For (universal) cutting tools, being usable to perform a wide variety of tasks, the real difficulty is the enormous number of possible choices, because the technological conditions for a given operation must be harmonised with economic profitability and quality requirements. Innovations, emerging in the field of turning tools, introduce design solutions, corresponding to the new principles, further complicate the situation. The aim of the present article is to compare and analyse the roughness producing ability of turning tools, having different designs and functions, and to examine their features. The present paper attempts to verify the relationships between the theoretical equations of chip removal and the values, determined by measurement, and presents models to describe the roughness characteristics of surfaces, turned under different conditions.
