This paper presents a model based on fuzzy logic for the objective assessment of workers' fitness for work. The objective of the method is to overcome the subjective and uncertain assessment of competences by using an automatable, rule-based system. Workers' competences are modelled with trapezoidal membership functions, which allow flexible treatment of "near good" or "partially deficient" levels. The job requirements are described by fuzzy sets and the fit between the two profiles is evaluated by fuzzy rules. The model helps shift managers to select the most suitable workers, reducing subjective biases and improving the efficiency of worker allocation.
