Focus and Scope

The journal "Bánki Közlemények" (ISSN 2560-2810) publishes original papers of high scientific value in wide range of topics including all areas of safety and security sciences, mechanical and automotive engineering, materials- and manufacturing technologies, occupational safety and health, security technology.

Bánki Közlemények solicits research papers with particular emphases both on 'knowledge' and 'applications'. Original papers typically:

  • Report progress in the security and/or engineering discipline
  • Have engineering relevance and help provide the scientific base to make engineering decision-making more reliable, spontaneous and creative.
  • Contain novel research that demonstrates the science of supporting knowledge-intensive engineering tasks.
  • Validate the generality, power and scalability of new methods through vigorous evaluation, preferably both qualitatively and quantitatively.

In addition, the Journal welcomes high quality review articles that summarise, compare, and evaluate methodologies and representations that are proposed for the field of safety, security and mechanical engineering. Similarly, summaries and comparisons of full-scale applications are welcomed, particularly those where scientific shortcomings have hindered success. Typically, such papers have expanded literature reviews and discussion of findings that reflect mastery of the current body of knowledge and propose novel additions to contemporary research.

Occasionally, special issues are devoted to topics of particular interests and proposals to such issues are invited.

Bánki Közlemények is a peer-reviewed online journal, published two times (Spring and Autumn) a year.

All of the Bánki Közlemények articles and reviews are free to access immediately from the date of publication. There are no author charges (commonly known as APCs) prior to publication, and no charge for any reader to download articles and reviews for their own scholarly use.  

Bánki Közlemények (Bánki Reports) is currently abstracted and indexed in Google Scholar.

Peer-review Process

The practice of peer review is to ensure that high quality scientific material is published. It is an objective process at the heart of competitive academic publishing and is carried out by all reputable scientific journals.

This journal operates a single blind review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor's decision is final.

Evaluation period information:
Evaluation period after paper submission: up to 3-4 months;
Publication time is pending on the number of papers received. We aim at a time not longer than one year.

Initial manuscript evaluation
The Editor first evaluates all manuscripts. The Editor may also reject a manuscript at this stage because it is insufficiently original, has serious scientific flaws, is ungrammatical, or falls outside the aims and scope of the journal. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to experts for review.

Reviewers evaluate the article according to the following:

Originality. Article must be sufficiently novel and interesting to warrant publication:

  • the paper must be among the best papers in its research area,
  • the level of general interest is high,
  • the presentation must be effective.

Structure. Are all the relevant elements must be present: abstract, keyword, introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.

  • Title: it must clearly describe the article.
  • Abstract: it must reflect the content of the article.
  • Introduction: the introduction should summarize relevant research to provide context, and explain what other authors' findings, if any, are being challenged or extended.
  • Method: the authors must accurately explain how the data was collected, and what original methods and algorithms have used.
  • Results: the results describe in the article must be original and have made comparisons with other results from the same research area.
  • Conclusion: the authors must indicate how the results relate to expectations and to earlier research.

Ethical Issues. Plagiarism: If you suspect that an article is a substantial copy of another work, please let the editor know, citing the previous work in as much detail as possible.

The articles appearing in Bánki Közlemények journal are normally original contributions that have not been published elsewhere. Widely disseminated conference proceedings, technical report and newsletters are a form of publication, although they are usually only semi archival and often non-refereed. Concurrent submission to Bánki Közlemények and other publications is considered as a serious breach of ethics and, if detected, will result in immediate rejection of the submission.
