Abstract

The need for measurements and units of measurement is as old as the emergence of human civilisation and has evolved significantly under the influence of trade. Metrology, as the science of measurement, encompasses the theoretical and practical aspects of measurement, taking into account measurement errors and uncertainties. The aim of this paper is to provide details of the latest international guidelines on metrological concepts and measurement uncertainties, and to emphasise the development of measurement models.
