Abstract

For thermocouples used in high temperature measurements (between 200 °C and 1100 °C), the detection of inhomogeneity due to increased heat input is important because the accuracy of measurements could be significantly increased and the uncertainty could be decreased. The Curie point method, based on the ferromagnetic properties of metals, was used to determine the inhomogeneity along a standard thermocouple filament made of precious metals. The findings of this research will enhance the reliability and efficiency of industrial processes where temperature plays a crucial role. This work was carried out in the framework of the EMPIR project 18PRT03.
